About Electric Wheelchair Scheme

Promoting youth and supporting higher education is among the main priority of the current democratically elected government of Pakistan. There is a wide array of programs that aim to help students to gain access to the higher educational system, internships, and training and then find jobs or entrepreneurship-related career paths.

In this context, one of the major initiatives taken by the Government is the plan to provide wheelchairs that are motorized or electric to disabled students within Public Sector Universities of Pakistan with the aim of assisting students in their mobility in order to finish their education and allow them to be able to contribute positively towards the development of the nation.

This plan is in line with the United Nations Standard Development Goals (SDGs) that aim to eliminate 2030 gender gaps in education and guarantee equal opportunity to access all levels of education as well as vocational training for people with disabilities Indigenous people, children, and those in risky situations.

Pakistan has signed an agreement on September 15, 2008, in the United Nations Convention on “Rights of Persons with Disabilities” which was adopted on July 5, 2011. Based on the information from Census 1998 the number of disabled (crippled) individuals in Pakistan. Of these, 21,925 students enrolled in various private and public sector colleges, schools, and colleges in Pakistan.

PM Electric Wheelchair Scheme 2024 eligibility criteria

  • Students who are enrolled in recognized HEC Public Sector Universities and degree-awarding institutions from Pakistan and AJ&K who require ambulatory aid are eligible to apply.
  • All those students who got enrolled in Undergraduate/Postgraduate and MS/M.Phil & Ph.D. Programs are required to apply.
  • All special case applicants must carry their Valid certificate of ambulatory special need from relevant government agencies, which has been examined prior to their respective institution.
  • Those who Are not receiving Electric Wheelchairs in Phase-I and II They can apply.
  • You must have a valid impairment to move from one location to another.

How to Apply for PM Electric Wheelchair Scheme

  • Interested special applicants are required to register themselves online from eportal.hec.gov.pk/wheelchair.
  • Candidates must take the printed application and attach the information required information and submit it to the Office of the Vice Chancellor or the person designated.
  • Colleges and universities affiliated with them will forward applications from qualified students in one transaction to HEC in one transaction prior to the deadline of November 30, 2024, at the address provided below for the distribution of Electric Wheelchairs on merit.

Verification of Applicant’s Application

The individual applications of the applicants will later be transferred to the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The applications will be scanned through medical certificates that meet the entire verification requirements.
