Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad announces the full-fledged Hungaricum Scholarships for undergraduates, Masters as well as Ph.D. Programs. Hungaricum Scholarship Programme (2023-24) was launched by the Hungarian Government under the Higher Education and Scientific Exchange Programme for Bachelor Master, One-Tier Masters master, Bachelor, and Ph.D. studies.

The program is run through HEC, Pakistan, and the Tempus Public Foundation, Hungary. The date for submission of the online application is January 16th, 2024. Education Testing Council (ETC) HEC will be conducting the HEC Aptitude Tests HAT in order to award the award in January. More details will be announced shortly.

Nearly all academic disciplines and majors can be pursued as undergraduate or postgraduate degrees with the Hungary government scholarships until 2023. All programs will be taught in English. All costs will be borne by the Government of Hungary.

The HEC Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program was established in 2013 by the Hungarian government to provide students from abroad with the chance to pursue their studies in Hungary. The principal goal this program serves is to boost the number of international students studying in Hungary and to assist Hungarian higher educational institutions to attract high-quality foreign students.

The Scholarship Program gives full-time and part-time study options in three-cycle degree structures ( Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees), mostly in English However additional studies in foreign languages are also available within the context of the Stipendium Hungricum Scholarship Program. Students may also apply for a one-year Hungarian language training course at the end of which they may pursue further studies in Hungarian.

HEC Hungaricum Scholarship Types

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available to students

  1. Bachelor’s degree (after twelve years of schooling)
  2. 1Tier Master’s degree(after twelve years of schooling)
  3. Master’s degree(after sixteen years of study)
  4. Ph.D. Degree (after the completion of 18 years of study)

HEC Hungaricum Scholarship Covers

  • Education tuition-free: exemption from the payment of tuition fees
  • Stipends for the month:
  • Master and Bachelors scholarships: monthly HUF 43,700$ (cca EUR 130) Doctoral degree: according to the current Hungarian law monthly HUF 140,000/-(cca EUR 415) for the first stage of study (4 months) as well as the HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 530) for the second phase (4 semesters) which is for 12 months per year, until the completion of studies.
  • accommodation: Dormitory place or an amount of HUF 40,000/month.
  • Insurance for medical: Healthcare services as per the relevant Hungarian law (Act No. 80 of 1997 National medical insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance.

Eligibility Criteria for the HEC Hungary Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a resident of Pakistan or AJ&K.
  • They must be between the ages of 18-22 for undergraduate programs, to the program they’re seeking admission. The maximum age limit is not more than 35 for Postgraduate Masters (18-year-olds) as well as Ph.D. programs on the 16th of January, 2024. For Ph.D. programs for a full-time staff of the public sectors Universities, Colleges, and R&D organizations, the maximum age is 40 years by the 16th of January, 2024.
  • The applicant must have successfully completed the HSSC/Intermediate level or equivalent for a Bachelor’s (Undergraduate Degree Program) and One-Tier Master’s degree.
  • The applicant must be a graduate of 16 years old or older. Bachelors or equivalent degrees to apply for admission to the master’s (Postgraduate Programme).
  • The applicant must have completed 18 years of education or the equivalent to being eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Program.
  • The applicant should fill in all fields on the Hungary application form as well as the HEC application form. No field or column should be left blank.
  • Certificates/Transcripts/Degrees to be attached must be attested by the attesting authorities such as IBCC and HEC. The equivalence of O & A level from IBCC is required.
  • IELTS/TOEFL scores are necessary, in the event that they are applicable.
  • All applicants must provide a medical certificate of satisfactory health ( the form of a certified letter by a doctor to prove that the applicant doesn’t suffer from any of the following diseases: AIDS, Hepatitis A B, C, or any other epidemic condition)
  • If they are selected for the final time candidates must provide legal papers to HEC that states that they will not alter their discipline following graduation and that, upon graduation, the applicant will be sent back home to Pakistan to serve the nation for a time according to the guidelines of the HEC. If they fail to submit a bond, HEC reserves the right to demand from the applicant or the guarantor the amount of penalty as determined in the HEC.
  • The applicant must satisfy all other requirements established by the host Hungarian universities/Tempus Foundation/Higher Educational Commission of Pakistan.
  • If selected as the final candidate the candidate will need to provide a bond contract with HEC.

The HEC Stipendium Hungary Hungaricum Scholarship 2024 is a fully Funded Scholarship for all the participants. The advantages that come with the Hungarian Stipendium are described below.

Deadline for applications

The deadline to submit an application for the HEC Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship 2024-24 will be 16th January 2024. The scholarship results will be announced in June 2024. Students will be able to join a class in the fall of 2024, in Hungary.

How to apply for HEC Hungaricum Scholarship

  • The applicants are mandatorily required to submit online applications through The Hungarian or HEC website. The event of not submitting online applications on both submitted websites listed in Step (1) and Step (2) is not assessed as a reason for processing.
  • Applications that are printed on paper as well as other documents aren’t needed at the start of the process. However, applicants must keep a copy of all documents submitted together with printed copies of BOTH forms (submitted online through HEC and Tempus Public Fund).
  • In the later stages of the process selected applicants will have to provide documents in hard copy (including online application forms that are submitted through the HEC portal along with deposit slips and the Tempus Public Foundation portal) together with photocopies attested of all original documents. Original medical certificates and police clearance certificates also must be provided.
