Hearing petitions to stop the current smog that is prevalent in Punjab the province, an LHC bench suggested declaring three holiday days for all private and public colleges and schools in the province.

Also, the bench considered imposing the mandatory work-from-home (WFH) for every private and public organization within the province. The LHC looked at these measures to ensure that citizens do not fall victim to smog-related illnesses.
LHC Judge Justice Shahid Kareem observed that the Punjab government isn’t determined to enforce strict measures to reduce the smog that is affecting the province.
He also said that the smog problem in the province is becoming worse with every passing day. Justice Shahid also suggested the provincial government employ renowned international environmentalists to reduce pollution in Punjab.
Justice Shahid directed the lawyers to contact relevant provincial authorities about the decision to close schools and for WFH to open offices. They also informed the court of what will be the date of the hearing.
