The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) was created as a Federal Public Sector University through an Act of Parliament on 31 of October 2015. The Honorable President of Pakistan is the Chancellor of NUMS while the Chief of Army Staff is the Pro-Chancellor.

Selection of Choices by the Applicants
The admission portal online will display the affiliated medical and dental schools to be able to select applicants.
Candidates are advised to be cautious when choosing dental and medical schools, based on their preferences. Candidates will be granted admission into MBBS BDS or MBBS in specific medical or dental colleges, based on merit only.

NUMS Eligibility Criteria for Private Medical Colleges Admission 2024
- According to PMC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission, Curriculum, and Behavior) Regulations 2024-23, to be eligible for admission to a private institution there is no distinction to be made on the basis of merit or other requirements between the criteria for a Pakistani or foreign, Pakistani or a foreign student which means there is no student quota for foreigners in private institutions and the foreign applicant must have the same basis like a local applicant.
- All Pakistanis who have legitimate citizenship (Including citizens of AJK and Gilgit Baltistan) are eligible to apply for admission to all of the above colleges for open merit seats.
- Minimum marks of 60% for FSc (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent with a minimum of 12 years of schooling.
- Achieving the MDCAT requirement for NUMS with a minimum score of 55% is required for admission to the MBBS program, and 45 marks to be admitted into BDS. BDS program.
