What’s CSS Exam?

The CSS Exam is a Central Superior Service Exam. The Federal Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting civil officer recruitment in BPS-17. The CSS exam consists of a Written Exam, Psychological Test, Medical Test and Viva. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements for the CSS exam can apply before the deadline.

How to Apply for CSS

• All newspapers publish the advertisement for CSS Exam that reflects dates between November and December every year.
• You must pay the Rs. 2200 exam fee to be eligible for application 2200 /- at the nearest Govt. Treasury / State Bank of Pakistan / National Bank of Pakistan, under the account heading C02101-Organs of State Exam Fee on the given challan paper.
• You can download or visit the FPSC website.
• After paying the Fee, you will need to fill out the Online Application form on the official website. You can also print a hard copy of the same online form.
• You must then send the hard copy of the online application, which you submitted online, with copies of your documents, and the Fee Challan, to the FPSC headquarters in Islamabad within ten days.

Common Mistakes You Should Avoid in CSS Exam

Below are some common CSS mistakes applicants should avoid:
• Waiting for the last date to arrive means “still lots of time until the last date”. Apply as soon as you can.
• It would help if you did not reveal their availed opportunities to the FPSC. Your candidature will be cancelled.
• It is common for applicants not to send the hard copy of their online submissions within 10 business days after submitting an online application.
• To test your abilities, you should only take one or two papers. It is important to note that you will lose your chance of being selected for the CSS Examination if you only appear on one paper or render a blank answer sheet. If you cannot do so, try to complete all papers.
• Before appearing for the CSS Examination, you must have a medical examination.

Eligibility Criteria for CSS

You must meet these eligibility requirements to be eligible for the CSS Examination.
Criteria for Nationality: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Educational Criteria for CSS

According to CSS Rules & Regulations for CSS Examination 2020:
• A minimum bachelor’s degree with at least 2 and division must be obtained from a university in Pakistan.
• You can only apply for a Master’s degree if you have the rd degree.

Age for CSS Examination

21 years old is the minimum age to appear in the CSS Examination, and 30 is the maximum age.
The 31/12 year is used to calculate the age. If you apply in CSS 2024, you must be at least 31 years old by December 31 2024. You can find the Age relaxation criteria below for two years of age relaxation.

CSS Written Examination Age Relaxation

Some CSS applicants receive a two-year age relaxation according to the CSS CE Rules 2019. Special persons may also be granted age relations for the CSS written exam.
CSS applicants should prepare by studying past papers and understanding the paper pattern. This will help them score high marks. To calculate exam time and improve on it, CSS applicants should also attempt past CSS written examination papers.

Parts of CSS Exam

The CSS Examination can be divided into the following four parts.
• Written Examination (1200 Marks)
• Medical Examination

The CSS Written exam has 12 subjects. Six of the 12 required subjects are English Essay, Grammar & Composition and General Science & Ability. Eligibility for CSS Screening Test/MCQ Based Preliminary Test(MPT)

All qualified graduates with at least 2 divisions in their Bachelor’s degree and between 21 and 30 years of age on the cut-off date of 2024 are eligible to apply.
Two years of age relaxation is permissible for the categories listed in CSS Rules 2024 under section 6. sub-section 2.

CSS MPT Exam 2024

To be eligible for the 2024 CSS written exam, applicants must pass the MCQ-based Preliminary Test ( MPT). 33% is the qualifying percentage for the MPT. The 200-mark MPT test will cover Islamic Studies, English, Urdu and General Knowledge topics. It also covers current affairs and general skills.

CSS 2024 — Important Note for Candidates

• You can download computer-generated Admission Certificates from FPSC Website. This means that no notice shall be sent via post or email.
• The online registration for the CSS 2024 MPT exam does not require a hard copy. Candidates who are going to take the written exam will need to submit a hard copy of their online application.
• Please note that once a centre has been chosen, it cannot be changed. This is a condition that no request for change will be considered.
• Completely enter your CNIC number and date of birth in the online form. An incorrect entry could result in rejection.
•  The cut-off date to determine eligibility for the candidate in terms of age, qualification, domicile, and other criteria are December 31 of the current calendar year.
