Compulsory CSS Subjects
All CSS examination candidates will have to attempt the Compulsory Subjects of CSS examination having 600 marks comprising Essay, general knowledge, English (precis and composition), available science and ability, Pakistan affairs, current affairs and Islamic studies or comparative study of major religions(non-Muslims). CSS exam candidates must achieve top scores in the compulsory examinations to be competitive over other students since the competition for CSS exam candidates is exceptionally high. CSS candidates will need to demonstrate their skills in the CSS exam by proving their worth in the CSS examination by fighting against the entire nation.
CSS Syllabus, FPSC Subjects and Exam Rules
(All applicants must take the six compulsory tests)
Optional Papers 6 (Marks 600) (Candidates shall choose the number 6 from the available options)
In CSS, students must complete 12 tests with 100 marks each. The six papers: (1) Essay, (2) English, (3) General Science & Ability, (4) Current Affairs, (5) Pakistan Affairs as well as (6) Islamic Studies are obligatory. That means that all applicants have to pass these six papers. Non-Muslim candidates also can choose Islamic Studies or Comparative Religion. Candidates can also select six optional subjects from various options based on the rules listed below for each group of papers.

Six CSS Compulsory papers are 100 marks each, with a length of 3 hours for each paper. Candidates must complete all of the mandatory papers.
