CSS Syllabus, FPSC Subjects and Exam Rules

(All applicants must take the six compulsory tests)
Optional Papers 6 (Marks 600) (Candidates shall choose the number 6 from the available options)
In CSS, students must complete 12 tests with 100 marks each. The six papers: (1) Essay, (2) English, (3) General Science & Ability, (4) Current Affairs, (5) Pakistan Affairs as well as (6) Islamic Studies are obligatory. That means that all applicants have to pass these six papers. Non-Muslim candidates also can choose Islamic Studies or Comparative Religion. Candidates can also select six optional subjects from various options based on the rules listed below for each group of papers.

Six CSS Compulsory papers are 100 marks each, with a length of 3 hours for each paper. Candidates must complete all of the mandatory papers.

  • Ability To be a good judge of oneself (40 marks = subjective)

  • Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions (For Non-Muslims) 100
  • The total marks are 600 *MCQs. They are to be completed using OMR Answer Sheet. OMR Answer Sheet and subjective questions completed on the Answer Book.
